I think im gonna try turkeys this spring without a blind.  I was wandering if any of you guys or gals out there use ghillies to get it done?

Main thing is practice alot, your draw, adjusting position etc... it took me a dozen times shooting just to get the suit trimmed back. Have fun, that's what it is all about.

Mike I made a ghillie parka this winter and am planning to give it a try.  Going to have to trim the arms and do some practicing in it but I think it will work great along with a Torges seat.

Im not sure if im gonna make one or buy the stuff from rancho safari. I wear a 3d leaf suit during early deer season. It works great but ive been picked off by turkeys in the fall, probly my bright feathers though.I was reading in the latest Traditional Bowhunter and saw the pic of a guy wearing one and it got me thinking.

I wore a ghillie jacket last fall hunting deer. I had turkeys within 6 feet, feeding merrily away with no clue I was in the country. I'm going to use the ghillie this spring. It should be fun.

joebuck had a great turkey hunting seminar at K-Zoo. Don't set your decoy for a head on approach to you, try to set up with a draw tree so you can draw when the bird walks behind, and use a ground bow spike/stand to hold the bow in front and ready at all times. Back cover helps too.

BPS had some inexpensive suits that were good I bought 2 types they are thin and came jacket w/hood,and pants that go over any clothing and you can get a head mask as well total cost was for all three was $80.00 I use them for all my hunting.

Have not tried one yet... seems like they would work really good.  I have been checking out a few at-

I've taken a good number of longbeards while hunting with a ghillie suit.  Most were taken while wearing a Rancho Safari Longcoat and using a taxidermy mounted decoy.  I'm currently working on an article that describes in detail the methods that I believe will give the most consistant results.  Ghillies and mounted decoys are deadly effective on wary Easterns.

I'm going to try a rancho safari hood this year
and my 3d leaf suit. Seems like that hood would break up the outline of your head and neck really well.

Have had a ghillie for two years now. Took several times with a pair of scissors to get it trimmed right but I think I got it now. If you get one, don't get discouraged. You may have to trim it a few times yourself to get the outcome you desire. Good luck.
