I read someplace on here once that one wing feather, LW or RW, was more available or maybe it was that there were more available cuts and colors.  I can't find it again.  Is there any truth to this?

As a general rule more people shoot LW than RW that may relate to suppliers having more of a selection of LW feathers.

Left wing has more available colors, like WT said,
they spin away from the shelf on a right handed bow when the arrow is shot. Maybe a cleaner shot? I will leave that for someone more expert than I.

I do like the variety of colors available.

I shoot LW for the sole reason that I have left helical arms on my EZ Fletch...

LW is used by more shooters than RW so feather mfg.supplers have more colors and sizes in LW.

I fletch and shoot both LW and RW,so when a good buys come along I'll get it whether it is LW or RW.

All the super slow mo videos I have watched show NO visible turning of the feathers until the arrow clears the bow. See botom of page:

It sways or flexes as it goes by and is more noticable on some videos depending on arrow spine.

I don't think it really matters what you fletch with as long as they are fletched the same way on the SAME arrow.

I shoot rights and lefts and it doesn't seem to matter if i have clearance going by the shelf and riser.

Your not the only one, I did that too before I realized LW had more color options.

All there seems to be here in my country is right.  Good luck finding left wing.  Plus right wing keeps my tips tight.

Rob DiStefano

feather wing is just a subjective, aesthetic thing.

there is no functional difference 'tween them.

just make sure all the feathers on an arrow are from the same wing!

Dan Quillian told me that there are more LW available because when the wings are clipped in turkey farms, a right-handed person naturally clips the left wing, because of the way they hold the birds. More right-handed people = more LW feathers. You only have to clip one wing to keep them from flying out of the pen!
