Can anyone recommend a resonably priced trail camera that works well when it hits minus 20 or more (It hit minus 46 C here last week).. I'd like to set one up on a food source. I have a Cuddeback Capture but it hasn't worked very well for me. The infra red doesn't work it seems as I can't get any night pix unless they are very close. I need to send it in I think. My Moultrie was stolen this fall. I'm heading down to Bass Pro next week, hoping to find something on sale.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Hey Gun,

The one built here in Alberta (Treebark) is supposed to be good in the cold but I don't have any experience with it. My brand new Bushnell quit taking night pics after the first night but I don't know if that's a battery issue or if it's so cold that the flash is not sychronizing with the shutter? The first night was a lot warmer than the last 2 have been.

Have a Merry Christmas,

I have a Moultree but the batteries freeze when it gets cold and shuts off. I think that is the main problem with cold weather and trail cameras.
I am my own worst enemy!!!

Nor'easter

Try lithium batteries, they last much longer in tne cold.

Nor'easter, the cold freezes up the batteries. They're still good because when you thaw them out they work again

So, I warmed my unit up slowly and tried it in the dark. Flash worked properly so it's probably just too cold.

Been getting good cold weather pics and battery life with my Bushnell Trophy Cams.

Gun, my treebark camera has been working pretty good so far, got a cool picture of a coyote walking a deadfall, he is about 6 feet off the ground. I just need to figure out how to set it for infra red instead of the flash.
