I had read about a bow feeling "right". As I shot more and more of them I began to know the ones that felt so so,  good and pretty good. I also thought I identified when one felt "right", that holy grail of your form and a bows delivered performance.

Well guess what?

I shot a bow today that just blew my socks off!
It was a gateway experience. I just wanted to keep shooting it.
I had a big grin all over my face. And it was about a 4-5lbs heavier bow than I can usually shoot with comfort.

It just all came together in that bow in my hands-  the length, grip size/configuration, smoothness and umph down range.

My-OH!-my!  I am excited to order one just like it.

More details/pictures later when its been built.

I bet its a Big River!

That was my dream bow and John Mcdonald called the other day to say mine was done.  It's making a pit stop at my Dad's so he can use it for a year or so and then I'll be done bow shopping!

Enjoy each shot!!

I didn't intend to stir the pot!
I wanted to keep it under my hat until I had  pictures. You'll have to wait. (If I  can wait you can too)
Its a local bowyer is all I 'll say.
I shot a lot of different bows both old and new- longbows, hybrids, and recurves. I shot different lengths of the same bows in the same weight class. A couple Kodiak Special reproductions. Bighorn, Fedora, Pearson, Bear, Mohawk, Chastain, Pronghorn, Rampart. Seven Lakes, Browning, Black Hawk etc
I got a definate feel for what I liked in a bow regarding smoothness and handshock, limb vibration and how well I hit with them.
This bow I 'm ordering just out did them all when matched to this archer.

Lotsa good bowyers in Colorado.   :goldtooth:

I certainly am not a psychic but one of the bows that comes to mind when I think of one that's Colorado born is the Spirit bow made by Byran Holley.
I have one and can testify that his are sweet shooters.
God bless,Mudd

One thing I discovered on my bow quest was how hard it is to choose a bow when  many of them are so well made and so beautiful. It doesn't help at all when the bowyers are great folks too. I wanted to buy a couple bows just not to disappoint the makers.

Sometimes I still wanted a bow I couldn't shoot well based only on asthetics. Lots of times the grip was wrong for me on an otherwise great bow. I think a lot of bows don't shoot well for someone for that reason alone.

FWIW, my draw is 30". The bow will be a 62 inch recurve, 53 or 54 lbs @ 28.
On this make bow a longer riser made all the difference for me. Although a 60 inch model gave no finger pinch or stack the 2 inches in riser length seemed to "open up" the bow in my hands. Some of you know what I'm talking about and I hope those that don't get there by shooting a lot of bows before deciding on a make or model.
It is night and day even over the bows that you can shoot well and feel good to shoot. Kinda like that favorite pair of slippers. Its just "right".
No bow made me smile or want to keep going back to it (like kissing your favorite girlfriend) like this bow does. I just couldn't get enough.
