I think I've got a new favorite addiction. Just got a long bow 2 wks ago and have been shootin a 100+ arrows a day, ever since. I'm makin my own arrows and set up a range in my basement. I've shot a compound for fourteed yrs. and have always wanted to try traditional. I think the old compound is gettin put on the shelf, I'm hooked. I got the Bear Patriot and love it, it's a sick bow.
I got a question, for you experts. This mourning my string broke. I'd say I've shot 1,500+ arrows. How long do they usually last? Apprectiate it and I'm stoocked to be a member.

I don't think your poll is posted right.  Your answer choices are 1 or 2.  You may want to edit or repost.

That was different. I don't have a clue what I just voted for but I voted' I think this calf might need to be re-licked if you know what I mean.

Where did it break?   I didn't vote in the poll, but a string should last a year anyway, under normal circumstances.

Gordon martiniuk

even shooting your guts out it should still last more than a year ! 100 arrows a day just a warm up for many trad archers 1500 arrows a average week for many  :readit:    :knothead:

My guess is that it broke in one of the loops.  Check that bow nock for any rough or sharp spots and smooth them down with some fine sandpaper.

I picked 2 cuz its bigger. I change my string every September weather it needs it or not. keep the old ones for spares

I have never had a string break in over 30 years of shooting. And I shoot ALOT. A good string will last a long time, I'm embarresed to say how old some of mine are. Check the string nocks for sharp edges and good angle.

I too have never had a string break.....that's many years of shooting!
