today after all the food festivities i strung up my new board bow with a new self made string pretty pround so far . and went to the neighbors house to cut loose at his target . i shot about 10-15 times and actually only missed the 3x3 target 2 times . still trying to catch on to the no sight thing .

but i have one question it seems like my arrows are fishtailing  not all the time but quite often . is this a problem with longbows or maybe my tech which i don't have much of one right now  but always looking for advice will do some searching .

thanks for reading a long winded speach lol.

Do searchs for bow tuning and arrow tuning.

what is your brace hight right now? You might play with that some first. post back and more things to fix can be given.

did some searching and maybe i might be over spined i think  my bow is right at 50 lbs at 29.5 inchs i am shooting goldtips 5575 with 125 tips 29.5 inch arrow length  and it was the first shots on a new string but i have streached it for 2 nights on the bow it sstarted at 8 and is now at 7 1/4.
like i said i am new and ready to learn.. already wanting to build another bow.... this is quite addicting

thanks,
Scott

Sounds to be overspined. I would bump the tip weight up to at least 200-250 grns. on a 55/75. Cheaper than new arrows. Worth a try.

Yep your overspined by a good margin.  With a selfbow or in this case a boardbow, you will find that arrow will need to be spined 5 -10 pounds under the draw weight to fly well.  Takes more to get them around the riser.  So with a 50 at 29.5, we are looking at a 45 @ 28 bow.  So wtih your arrows you will need about 320 gr up front to get the spine where you need it.
