60" Hoyt Dorado, 48# @ my 29" draw. Arrows are EL 2016's, 29.5 BOP w/135gr Zwickey Eskalites. I weighed the arrows and they are all 506 +/- 2grs. Is this considered a heavy arrow for that bow weight?

looks about average. I shoot 10.5 grain per pound.

10 per pounds seems to be the "standard"

Wannabe, that's the same set up I use on my 48# Widow..I am also pulling 29"..It seems to work great for me..Mike

You can even go little heavier if you wanted.

Earl Jeff

You should get good performance with that setup.

Thanks everyone! I'll be heading out again Saturday morning with this setup to try and harvest that ever elusive blacktail deer. Hopefully there will be story to follow.

If Charlie says it...it's almost always true. Your set up sounds perfect. As long as the arrow hits the target flying straight (in other words, everything is properly tuned) arrow weight is less of a factor. The biggest factor for me that has improved penetration has been using arrows with a higher FOC. But even that is trumped by a straight shooting shaft.
