Some of y'all might already know this but Easton is releasing an Axis ST skinny arrow in 600 spine.  I spoke w/ an easton employee over the phone who told me the 600 spined Axis ST's should be avail at dealers within 2 weeks. This might be just the ticket for lower poundage bows. I have no idea what the grains per inch will be but I am interested.

good luck and happy hunting

They already had a 600 spine. But it wasn't in the skinny Axis style shafts.

Beman also has a 600 spine listed on their website in their MFX Classic woodgrain.

Fishnhunt

JRY, wow you are right. And the MFX Classics appear to come with the break-off brass inserts included.

thats great news. any idea what the stock length is going to be?

I think they need to make all of there arrows in a 600spine.

600spine lightspeeds/flatlines would be nice!

Fishnhunt

Okay I got some additional specs on the Axis ST 600s:  GPI is 7.2 and stock length is 30.5

The availability dates I listed previously were incorrect........Easton isn't going to begin shipping them until mid december.

What is the actual spine.  Carbons are loosely spined for sale.  A 600 spine could be anywhere from .600 to .699 for the actual spine before leaving the factory.  Surely they can tell us if it is a .630 or a .655 at 28", or whatever.  It would simplify the spine tolerance so a person could know ahead of time what point weight, etc., would work well.

Jason R. Wesbrock

George,

One thing Easton is not known for is sloppy tolerances. A 600 spine Easton (or Beman) is .600. That's what the number means. If they say the shafts are .600 spine, then that's what they will be.

George D. Stout

That's good to know Jason, maybe I'll pick up a few of them to test..then I can spine them to check.  I've heard of varying spines within a dozen, from various competitors.

For a carbon 0.600" deflection, would that be around 52 - 53 pounds (going with the old AMO measuring)?

Yes, exactly right.

"Yes, exactly right."

Which makes you laugh when you look at others who show only a 35/55 or 45/60 on stiffer spined arrows.

Oh well....I'll believe they are .600 when I spine check them.  I know Easton's reputation with aluminum is solid and always has been.  I hope Jason is correct, but I would like to know for sure.

I tested some 55/75's with my AMO tester,
they all came in around 72 pounds static spine.
But that was just that one batch.
Sorry I just started a sentence with a preposition   ;)

Guess one just has to buy, and flight test, and experiment with lengths
and pile weights. I'd say what's critical is that a dozen whatever
match in spine and grain weight, within a few pounds and +/- 5 grains.
