So I purchased my first traditional.  Check is in the mail and the bow will be here in a week or so.  It's a Black Widow, PMA II, 62", 53lbs at 30".  I pull around 29", so 50lbs give or take.  I would like to shoot some heavy arrows with EFOC.  I bought 100gr brass inserts and am looking at 150-175 grain broadheads.  For shaft choice, what would you recommed both in a carbon and aluminum.  I shoot Gold Tips with my Mathews and like them as they've always been good performers.  I have a dozen or so 2413 XX78s left over from about 10 years ago or so.  I am looking at any advice for arrow setup that can shorten my learning curve and help me avoid obvious mistakes.  I understand that ultimately whatever I choose needs to be shot and tuned to my bow.  Thanks for the help.

I would make a call to Black Widow.  They should be able to get you close given your parameters.

Id say your 55-75 gold tips with the brass inserts and 150 grain points will be close.  Start with them full length then cut them 1/4 inch at at a time till they bare shaft straight.  As far as aluminums I would start with 2018 with a 125 point you can go heavier spine and front weight them.  I have a friend who shoots a 52lb fedora at 29 inches he shoots 2115 gamegetters with 200 grain points.  Try that.   Hope that helps

I sent him Stu's spine calc program this morning.  He's probably running formulas now.  LOL

Here is a good chart to go by.I think I would try a couple 2016's with 125 gr heads first.

Prewar70,
My hunting set-up is similar to yours and through bare shaft tuning I've found that 2315's cut to 31" shoots the best from my bow. My bow is a B/W PSA11 that is 62" and 51# at 29" which is my true draw. I've tried using B-50 and compared to D-97 the only thing it really affected was the noise. My bow is very quiet with the ff, but the B-50 made it even more so. I know that many will probably laugh, but that's the arrow that my bow likes the best.

Thanks for the help.  I entered my info into Stu's spine calculator and it looks like 29" Gold Tip 5575 traditionals, feathers, 100 grain insert and 150 grain heads gets me to 56.6 pounds and the bow comes out at 56.4.  So this is all new to me but after doing some reading I will start with that set up and full length arrows, fletch half and bare shaft the other, then start tuning.  I printed OL's tuning instructions off his website which is most helpful.  Seems like I'm at a good starting point, just need the bow to arrive.
