I leave for my annual Kansas hunt Nov 4th. One place we hunt the landowner says there is a big buck with triple droptines - and he's big (and when the landowner dibs them "big" you KNOW they're big!)

Another place we hunt had a camtracker hung (very near where I killed my buck last year and saw 2 really big bucks as well)

This is what it captured

Now, the question - would ya'll try for this buck or try and go for the big triple drop tine rumored to be at the other place - either way its a good problem to have isn't it ?

If I knew where the buck in the picture was located that's where I'd be.  No need to go looking for another that you've not seen.  Besides, no offense to the landowner but I've been duped by deer on the hoof.  Pictures are proof.
Do or do not ... there is no "try"

yip thats a good problem you have there.
the triple drop sounds tempting, but you know for certain where the above beauty is

good luck either way

Tripletinetime. It's a big boy in the pic; but, you don't see triple tine drops. If me, I'd let the landowner know what I was giving up to hunt his T-tip.

Truth is I'll hunt both ...... I try and have 4-5 stand to play the wind and stands on each property.

This year was very abnormal for rainfall and the bucks have grown big antlers - its going to be a banner year !

I wouldn't shoot either of them. Let them live for another year.

BTW- Where exactly is this property at?  :saywhat:

Brad i played that game a few yrs back....waited all season for a 200" deer that i thought i had pegged, didnt happen.  shoot whatever is going to make you happy.  remember, this time of yr that big stud isnt going to be holed up...he will be out doing inventory on the girls, he might be miles down the road when you show up. good luck!

Such a terrible dilema to have, good luck either way. Agree with first come first served.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

I put a friend of mine on a stand I had setup for my brother (Shaft Slinger) and he couldn't make it this year. At 9:10 am my friend had a shot at a 140-150 class buck at 12 yards!!! He missed!  If you get a shot at this animal, take it!! A BIRD IN THE HAND IS BETTER THAN 2 IN THE BUSH!!

Have not seen a deer this year!!! Which ever one gave me the chance. It also would not have to have drop tines or be that good as the pic...lol!!!

Thats big buck country for sure. Once the rut is on those deer will travel. You're liable to see alot of deer that have not been on your camera anyway. I would set up on the best area and let it unfold. good luck and keep us posted.

Wow, that is a nice deer.
I see it this way, if you have had a lot of success in the past and killed deer of this caliber before, now it's just my opinion but it's no different than killing the biggest buck in the area any of us are hunting. You would be glad to harvest an animal that big any of us would. Now if for instance in my area a 100" eight point is a trophy then a 140 class buck is a buck of a life time. If I had a buck of a life time in my area I would eat tag soup at the end of the year from waiting for mister right. Especially if I have killed 100" buck in the past.
Now I am going to Ohio in a week. I can guarantee I will not shoot a 100" buck out there. I wish you luck and look forward to seeing pictures of MR Right. Good luck and God bless. If you kill the buck in the photo you would not regret the decision.

In just a few days I'll start my annual Kansas semi-live hunt thread. This year I want to add a bit of video if I can, more photo's etc.

This year, I drew an optional Mule deer tag too. I've got Nov 5th-14th scheduled to hunt, then I can hunt again 22nd-24th or something like that.

This year, I'm really going to try and focus on shooting a true monster buck. Why? My best buck is in the mid-140's, and while I measure a hunt not in inches scored by the P&Y or B&C clubs, taking a true 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 or older buck with giant antlers makes most of us giddy doesn't it?

If I shoot a 140" buck with my 1 tag, it will eliminate all chances of me shooting a 170" you know?

This year is my big buck year. Its the year I'm going to try and shoot a true once in a lifetime monster. This is the year if I come home after 14-16 days of hunting with a $500 tag in my pocket, so be it.
