Has anyone bought a longhunter wool shirt from La Clair's archery shop? how well are they made, and are they comfortable, and are they warm?

Sent you a PM.

The stitching is solid and it should hold up to much abuse.  It's reasonably warm for the weight of the wool.

I love mine.  Have the heavy-weight one.  They are well made, IMO and very comfortable.  They are as warm as you would expect and make an excellent layer.

BCWV

I love mine also. Warm and comfortable. I'm very satisfied.

Taiga Recurve

love mine. I also have the grey heavy wgt one. nice for lounging around the house in the winter and a great piece for layering while out side.

I've been wearing some wool like Ron sells and I like it a lot.  Even in some rain lately it kept me warm and comfortable.

I think you'll really like the shirt if you get one.

yes

professionally sown top notch quality

heavier but as comfortable as a favorite T-shirt

If they fit a little loosely they are warmer than if they are tight. You can adjust how warm by what you wear underneath. A long sleeve T-shirt dowm to mid 30s and Merino wool long underwear to zero or so. At Least for me; but I run hot.

The one thing to remember about sweaters is that the are a intermediary layer not an out layer garment. They are made to add loft and dead air area between you and your outer layer.
One thing I regret is I didn't buy the hood when I bought the longhunter shirt. I further regret I didn't buy a brown one as well as the grey one I bought. I'd get more use from a lighter weight brown one here in Southern Indiana.

Go bigger than you think so you can layer under.  They are really nice.  I have both the mid and heavy weight.  used the heavy last year in the late ML season.  It was 17 degrees out.  Had it as the top layer over some thermals, an expedition fleece turtle neck, and a sweater, and was just plain cozy warm even sitting still.  Have used the mid weight for bow season, and been pleased.  keep in mind, its part of a system, not a sole solution.

From me, "highly recommended"...

LOVE mine, very warkm and extremly comforatable. get yourself a wool sash or heavy leather belt, pull tight and load lunch, mittens, hat or whatever inside your shirt, no day pack needed!

I lOVE good wool.  I have never found anything better.  Some guys have problems with it but it is mostly because they do not use it correctly. What you have on under it or over it makes a big difference.  For example, don't wear cotton long underwear under it.  The two fabrics are fighting each other, as cotton tries to retain moisture.  Cotton long underwear has never made any sense to me for cold weather hunting.

Top notch stuff, I wear mine winter walleye fishin, deer huntin anything outdoors. Get the hood to go with it.
