I decided to go out behind the house this morning scouting/hunting. I had gone quite a ways in when I came across some fresh moose droppings. The ground was fairly hard so there were no tracks, so I decided the way I thought it went and soon found more fresh droppings. I looked around and noticed there was a faint trail going out into an open grassy area with a thicket in the middle, so I headed that way and only went 10 yards or so when stopped and thought jeez that looks like a moose head. I waited and sure enough it moved, turned out to be a big cow. I watched her for a couple minutes and then noticed movement to the side. I looked over and out walks this big old bull. He was past his prime, palms were kinda small but the front points were huge and half his back was white! Looked like a silver back gorilla. It was awesome. I hope he makes it through the winter and I get drawn for a permit next year, cause I want him! I'm going to be snowshoeing out there this winter to keep an eye on him. If he dies hopefully I'll find him before the coyotes do. No deer but still a really cool morning!

Great story
Seems like when we run across something super cool in the woolies we never have a camera, at least I don't.
Hope you get some pics of the old monarch.

"People say you can't go back, its like when you get to the edge of a cliff and you take one more step forward or you do a 180 degree turn and take one more step forward. Which way are you going? Which one is progress?" Doug Tompkins

Only bad part was that I found what I think was an old poacher kill, most of the bones were there but no skull
