Well I finally did it.  I place an order today for my first longbow.  It will also be my first bow w/o wheels in 25 years.  Thanks to talking w Big Jim, I have an order in line for one of his bows, 64" and 50# @ 28".  She's gonna be a beauty.  The last non-wheel bow I had was a BW silver anniversary TD I picked up second hand back in '84.  Sold that before I went to  college.

By way of an introduction, I have been reading these pages for a little while now and finally got the yearning to join the group, buy a bow, and start shooting some traditional archery again.  I live in southern Illinois.  I have my kids just about raised, and want to get back to having some fun like I did when I was a kid growing up in central Michigan.

I have not done much bow hunting over the last two decades, maybe only 5 or 6 times .  I did start water fowling a couple years ago (kinda have to if you live in southern Illinois).  But I have missed the year round sport of fletching up some arrows and watching them fly under the simple power of stick and string.

I will be sure to post some pics when they bow arrives.  In the meantime, I'll have time to re-learn all the subtleties of the sport in preparation for the first arrow my new bow sends down range.  I'll be reading your posts, trying to learn from each of you, and hopefully not ask too many questions.

Thanks for letting join the "TradGang".

Best wishes on the reunion and welcome back.

There is a pretty fair bowyer in Marion by the name of Ed Barwick. He built me a longbow a few years ago. I think he goes by CEB on here. Hap

Welcome to the Gang, Brian.  I'll look for you in the woods when I'm hunting in Saline Co.
