Need some help.  60# take down recurve, I have tiller it "even" since I shoot 3 under.  I am nocked 3/8 in. high.  Bare shaft, the nock end is kicked high.  I raised nock point up (at 3/4")until I had no up/down on arrow.  My problem, the nock end is kicked to the right.  Wasn't doing that at the lower nock point.  I am shooting carbon arrows with 20% FOC with total arrow weight at 630 gr.  Carbon Express 12 gpi cut at 29.75".  I'm stuck.

Sounds like a stiffness problem to me. If you nock high it allows you to shoot a stiffer arrow. So if it didn't kick left and right at 3/8 but did at 3/4 the arrow is most likely too weak. What deflection are they and how much does your insert and tip weigh? What is your draw length?

George D. Stout

If your arrow was nock-high on entry at 3/8", then you should have tried lowering the nock a bit...not raise it.

My draw is 28".  300 grains total on tip.  19.6% FOC.  Shooting Carbon Express 350 (12 gpi) and Beaman MFX 340.  Pronghorn, you think I should take them down some?  George, I will try going down slightly.  After reading several posts, I only had up on my mind.  Should I consider removing the striker?  I'm new but willing to learn, Thanks!

Is your bow cut to center? If its not center your arrow will need to be a bit weaker. With 300 on the front and about 30" of shaft I would think 340 deflection is pretty close to right.

George knows a heck of a lot more than I do. It would be easier to start lowering the nocking point and see what happens. My bows always tune up between 3/8 and 3/4 nock point, I shoot 3 under.

How much is it kicking left? Barely or is it huge?
