Ultra Cam string material - opinions?
«
on:

Hi all,
Im going to try my hand at building a skinny string, and am deciding whether to go with UltraCam or DF-97.
Any opinions on the two materials for use as a skinny string. UltraCam looks the stronger and thinner fibre, but does this translate to a good skinny string, and will it be as queit as DF-97 that might give a little with each shot?
Any input welcome, thanks.

I'm partial to Brownell products (they are just down the road from me) so I'd say Ultra cam
I haven't been as happy with the D97 strings... prefer TS-1, though my first ultracam string seems to be a winner.

Grab a spool or two of Ultra-Cam when you wonder by sometime Jeremy and send them north. I'll make you some more. :D

I've heard the DF97 has a lot of stretch.

Next time I drive by before closing time I'll stop in Dave. I'm about out of serving material and need to make a whole mess of strings for some old bows anyway.

Its funny I was offering Ultracam string's back in 2002....and nobody was interested
Excellent zero stretch material, that's only drawback(like any of the blended materials) is longevity when compared to 100% Dyneema.

I think it was heavily associated with compounds Rod and folks are a lot more open minded about experimenting now than they once were. The internet has it's benefits.
