Friends call me Pac

I'm flying home in two weeks.  I mailed my 1 piece longbow ahead of time but wanted to take a backup.  The problem was how to pack it in my suitcase and keep it protected from damage.

I found some semi light material and was able to whip this case up pretty quick. The material is  fuzzy on one side and has a mesh type backing.  Basic things needed was the case material, sewing machine, deer roast and leather thongs.

Here I laid the bow on the material to get an idea of what I wanted to do.

Next I had to cook a deer roast for bait for when the wife got home.

Bait worked!  Charlotte cut 3 sections for the pockets that the riser and limbs would fit into. Next she sewed them in place.

It didn't take long and she had sewn the pockets in place.

The bow sections slid neatly in place. After rolling it up I secured it with the leather thongs.  I think it came out real nice and was worth the time needed to cook the roast.

Now came the test to see if it would fit in the suitcase.  Success!  By packing clothes around the case I think my bow will be pretty safe.

Nice job.

What are you doing for an arrow case?

I put the arrows in a regular arrow box and shipped it ahead with my 1 piece.  They wouldn't fit in the suitcase at 30 1/4".  A duffle bag would hold the bow and arrows but I don't have one.

I thought that if my 1 piece and arrows don't show I can always pick some 2016's up fairly easily for the take down in the suitcase.

Dang airlines wanted to charge me the price of another seat to fly with my 1 piece long bow.  I bet it doesn't weigh more than a pound.

I put it in a pvc pipe about the diameter of a toilet paper roll and tapped the ends after cushining the tips.  Next I got a 8x8x4"
long box and put the pvc in it.  I had room left over to also put my arrows, flashlight, broadheads, lansky, quiver, Buck knife and several changes of hunting clothes in the box.

Took it to the post office and shipped it parcel post 15 days before I arrive back home.  Total cost with 1K insurence was $29.  Way better than what the airline wanted to charge.
