A&H ACS-CX quieter than a H. Hill? My Hill doesn't wear any silencers, none needed. The A&H site says theirs' are the quietest bow, along with other adjectives. 12gpp, B-50, straight limbs, All I hear is the string slice the air... Whattaya "thunk" .... pun intended.

I'm a new ACS shooter, and it's the quietest bow I've ever shot!! Not sure how it compares to a Hill.

I think quietness depends on tuning.  My Hill is pretty much silent. But my K hunter is silent after adding Limbsavers and cat whiskers.

Jason Jelinek

I've shot both (although my Hill has a FF string) and the ACS is a little quieter.

GMMAT

How heavy are your arrows?  Same arrow (weight)?

My ACS is the quietest bow i've ever shot! 50# with 530 grain arrows. But it got even quieter when I added the Thunderhorn strap on quiver.

Three Arrows

ACS longbows both one piece and 3 piece are the quietest bows around.  Add some fur on the string and all you'll hear is your glove/tab.

Apex Predator

I have to disagree.  I've never shot any bow as quiet as a straight profile longbow, including the ACS.  I've shot bunches of bows, and by design, the straight or string follow longbows win every time in the silent category.
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

Percieved noise is not as loud @ 10yds as it is @bow. Sound frequency, in Hz, is a big factor. Low tones are longer in wavelength which makes them more dificult to pin-point, ie. drumming partridge, or car stereo bass. Twangs, thunks, tinks, and the like are a lot easier to discern location. My Hill is very low in tone, like a bass guitar. Must be the big 15-16 strand B-50 and loong length for a "swoom" sound. Shorter, thiner, FF-type strings with less "give" and more "thwut" sound. Overall SPL may be more or less the same but the low frequency tone make the perception "Softer"
