Here is a little goody I made. Sure will come in handy when I need pictures and I am by my self.

All you need is a 1/4 20 X 1 inch bolt and 2 inch piece of 1 inch dowel.

Drill a 1/4 hole and epoxy the bolt in leaving just 3/16 sticking out.

Drill a 5/16 hole in the other end to accommodate the arrow nock. 5/16 fits my woodies great but adjust to your nocks. Needs to be snug. I missed the center but what do you expect for a nickel.

Dang.  I have always wanted a device like this but was too cheap to drop the $20 to get one.

I am making one.  Thanks.

I guess I shood have made and sold them for $19.95. Good shooting

any probs with vibration from pressing the shutter release and letting go?

I might try it with 3 holes instead of 1 (my camera is pretty heavy...its a 12x zoom)  great Idea though!  I bought one of those P.O.S. targas articulating tripods frmo wally world and it broke the first time I tried to use it.

I just thought of another option you could do...
instead of mounting on an arrow, you could install a lag bolt in the bottom of the dowel and then screw it into a tree branch or stump (horizontally or vertically)to hold it steady for pics.
Cool idea Onehair.

I made this for the self timer shots. Not to worried about vibration.  I have great ambitions for this year.

Not to jump on your thread but another way I do it is to cut the head off a 1/4-20 bolt and epoxy it into an old carbon shaft.  The shaft just rides in my quiver, when I need it, its there.  Joe

well...I was on my way out to the garage tonight when I was overcome by a fit of frugality.   :)

thinking about this mono-pod thread and having my camera in my hand I set about brainstorming what I could use for my 'arrow legged tripod'.  and there it is on my work bench right next to the vise.  HOCKEY PUCK!.  materials: 1 hockey puck, 1 1/4 -20 x 1 1/2" shoulder bolt (cause I had a whole box of 'em).  tools used: bench vise (but any old clamp l'do), cordless drill with one 3/16 and one 5/16" bits, and a ratchet wrench/socket that fits the bolt.

viola!

I did this totally free hand.  drill 3/16 whole through the center.  (make whole so its tight enough that you have to thread the bolt through).

next eyeball 3rd points around the outer edge and drill 5/16" holes angling back to the center.

finito.  screw the puck into the tripod hole on the bottom of the camera.  insert arrows nock end into the 5/16 holes. and thats it.  the hockey puck turns out to be pretty cool in that its rigid, but slightly flexable....to accomodate a bit of tweaking the arrow-legs to level or angle the platform.   :)

not quite as pretty as wood though.

(why do I suddenly feel like Red Green?)
