Which Beman Bowhunter shafts should I get to use with my 56" Shrew Classic Hunter longbow.  It's 46# @ 29" and I'm drawing about 28.5".  Would like to cut the shafts to 29" and use a 200gr field point and broadhead.  I've been shooting Arrow Dynamic Trad Lites at 29" and they do great but would like a less expensive shaft for roving, small game, etc.  Thanks guys.

Alan,
I've shot 29-5/8ths" Beman Black Max and MFX 500's w/175 gr. heads in bows that are 46# @ 28".  500's would be my guess but center shot on different bows can mean alot. I've gone to longer 400's with more weight up front to get a heavier arrow for hunting.  If you want some to try I'll make you a deal on some 500's if they don't sell at a shoot I'm going to this weekend.  E-mail me if interested.

My Super Shrew is #52-53 @ 29.5". It likes CX150 30.5" with 200g on the front. A CX150 is .487 I think, so I would go with the 500.

I shoot the 500s with 200grains up front and 250 with broadheads, 28 1/2 shaft.  They fly fine for me with weights from 45-54#...Doc

Thanks guys.  With Ron's recommendation to add 15lbs for spine with wood arrows I wasn't sure which carbon would be best.  Think I'll giv the 500 a try.

Alan, I just ran your specs thru the dyn spine calc and you should be right on the money with a 500 @ 29" using the standard alum insert and a 200grn point. = 474grn arrow / 21.1%foc

Red Boar

I use the 500 with my 56 lb. Super Shrew.  28 1/2 cut, with 100 gr. brass insert and 175 Grizzly Stik Samurai broadheads.

Forgot to say, that if you want to play with that point weight, you can change out the insert for a brass insert, and adjust your point weight to come up with the 200grns up front.

AlanF

Thank you Smallwood and Red Boar.  I'm going to go with the 500's.
