How often do I de-sting my recurve?

I would second that question by asking the same thing about my 1976 Hoyt Pro Hunter.

No need to unstring your recurve. Especially if your shooting it every day.
I used to leave my 70's era grizzly strung for months on end.

I hardly ever unstring mine?? it is a 55# silvertip curve. Not saying right or wrong but never seen ill effects.

How about a Longbow?

The sting automatically goes out of any bow as soon as you loose an arrow.

It's more important to unstring a longbow than a recurve, because the limbs are thicker.

I unstring all my bows after each session or day of hunting; if I happen to be back at camp for a spell during the day, I'll unstring the bow so it can also have a spell.

I un string my recurves when not hunting or shooting. Just habbit.

I sold a Damon Howatt Hunter recurve to a friend many years ago.  He left it strung upright in a closet for over 10 years.  I bought it back from him and it is still in great shape considering it is over 30 years old.  There are more bows ruined by improper stringing than leaving them strung for relative long periods of time.  This does not include self bows.
