I just got a black widow 58@28 and I am needing help with arrows. I like the vapor carbon woods but dont know what size to get, dont know what size inserts, can anyone help?

R H Clark

How far do you draw and what grain head do you want to shoot?

Every carbon I've ever bought came with the correct inserts.Might have to check if you want to use a brass insert.

I draw 26.5 and wanna shoot 125 grain magnus 2 blade. the widow is actuallt 63@28 but with my draw its pulling right at 58 pounds. I shot my father in laws vapor carbonwoods with a 100 grain brass insert and they shoot fine but I have about 4 inches hang over that needs to be cut, but if I do that I think it will make the arrow fly funny. I have naarowed the arrow down to the vapor carbonwoods or the cx heritage, but not sure what size, either the 150 or 250, can you help?

Paul Mattson

This should help you out some,  if you want to use around a 28" arrow you can go with the CX150's with a 100grn brass insert.  Since Gold Tip bought out Vapor, they are no longer making the Carbon Woods, a few dealers still have them.

You may want to take a look at the Arrow Dynamic Traditional lites, they are a great arrow also.

R H Clark

I would tend to agree with a 150 and 100 grn insert.

Is there any specific reason you have for cutting arrows to a certin length? Carbons are much easier to tune by lenth rather than cutting to a certin length and then trying to tune.

fryar34

No reason for cutting to a certain lenght, I just thought 3-4 inches hangover was a little much. I am kind of new at this so I dont know about certain things.
