The brace height for my Fedora 560 is listed as 6.25 to 6.5 inches from the back of the shelf. It's really noisey in this range and doesn't quiet down until the brace height is about 7.5 inches which seems excessive. I've put padding on the limbs where the string touches and rubber whiskers on the string but no help. Should I just set the brace height at 7.5 and not worry about it?

Big Ed

I would run the brace height where it suits you as far as noise. As far as bowyer specs they are usually starting points. Use what works.

Are you using the string Mike made for the bow? That is usually an endless loop FF? If it is(Sorry Mike-great bow; not so great string JMO).
I would get a Flemish twist D97 from Chad at recurves.com 6 strands for 50# 8 strands for 60#. Brace at 8" back of throat, same as Big Ed said-you will be smiling.

One of the quietest recurves I never heard was a Fedora 560....it had Bow Hush and Hush puppies on it and it was as quiet as a selfbow.  It was very impressive at how quiet it was.

I also don't think 560s are inherently loud to start with....something else may be amiss.

Could your arrow nock be slapping the riser?

Mike recommends an endless loop B-50 on that bow, I had one, very fast and quiet ... Good Luck ...

Yep ..... I believe that is correct.

And a lot of animals fell to that combo over the years.

I had one with a 14 strand d-97 string and woolie whispers.  I ran the brace at 8" from the deepest part of the grip.  I had velcro on the limb tips and it was dead quiet.  I could not imagine how quiet it would have been with bow hush and hush puppies.  That is one I should have never sold.
It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll get a B-50 string and run the brace back up.
