Bear Super Kodiak
Martin hunter

I have friend wanting to get into trad and he wants one of these. i was asked which one? I said IDK? They both look like great bows. What do you guys think...

I think that they are both good bows.

I'll stick my neck out and suggest the Hunter. I personally find them to be great shooting bows if you are into recurves.

I've only handled one newer Super Kodiak, and it was constructed very poorly.  The newer Martin/Howatts are every bit the same bow that they have always been.  If talking older bows, the differences would be negligible.  The performance edge would go to the Martin/Howatts, regardless of year of birth.

thanks for info guys. I have not seen a new bear in person but after what apex says then I will recommend the martin to him. I have shot hunters in the past and they are great bows.

thanks again

I agree with Apex.  The Howatt (now Martin) Hunter was/is one of the best recurve designs around.

I have both and the Martin IMO is the better of the two.
