Homegrown "compressed" cedars?

Has anyone had experience using the compression block sold by Three Rivers Archery to compress cedar shafting??

How well does it work? Does it reduce the spine of the shaft? Can a 23/64 be reduced to 5/16 or only 11/32nd?

Advice appreciated.

There are previous threads on this topic, but I don't know how to find them.  The consensus was that they worked passably OK.  Most folks broke a number of shafts before they got the hang of it, and sometimes after as well.  Can burnish or compress the outer fibers of a 23/64 to 11/32, but not all the way to 5/16.  Can take a 11/32 that hasn't been compressed and compress it to 5/16 though.  Some folks said it reduces the spine about 3-5#.

I would like to see someone that has the equipment available to come up with a tube (pipe) and feeder rod with either compressed air, hydraulic, heck even pushing it with your truck,  but to push the dowels straight thru with no twist.  Under heated conditions (heat the shaft first, maybe even under steamed or hot water conditions, but push thru rather than twist thru.  Bet you can get it thru both of them that way.
