When hunting season gets here, I probably won't unstring my recurve (unless I hear it's detrimental not to do so).  But, for going to shoots and general travel, I'll unstring it.  Needing a way to keep it from getting damaged in transit.....is the above case as good as any?  Is there another style case that's just as good, or, more widely utilized (for whatever reason)?

Thanks.

Rob DiStefano

if i'm gonna pull string on a daily basis, even just to warm up the muscles, i typically leave my glass/wood bow(s) strung.  if used maybe once a week, i unbrace.  bracing/unbracing is not a chore for me, too easy to do, all done by hand without a bowstringer (for a noob, USE A BOWSTRINGER).  i see no need to use a hard bow case for travel in a car, a bow sock suffices me just fine.  for airline travel, a good hard case is mandatory.

that 3rivers tube bow case is a beauty in every way and if ya have the bucks, go for it.  if you need to be frugal when it comes to a hard case, go to home depot or lowes and get a 10' length of 6" diameter schedule 40 black abs plastic drain tubing for about $15.  you can buy press-on end caps, and add a wrap around leather handle to complete the job.

there was an article in a recent tbm about making a tube travel case, too.
