Bear Replicas?

I have had a McCoullough Fiftyniner; a Big River replica; and two Holcombs. They all shot great but the ones I kept are the Holcombs.

I would love to try a Saxon, and that Vintage works is beautiful. You gotta love the 59' Kodiak!

Bill, (Peckerwood) I didn't get to see yours at Denton. You must have gotten it from Fuzzy before I got to him on Friday. I shot the other one he had there. SWEET shooter!

In regard to not being a true replica, the La Clair Grayling Spirit that John McCullough made for Ron is a 1959 Kodiak replica. However, John told me he used the 1964 Kodiak limb design on it. John said back in 1964 the Bear Kodiak had the fastest limbs at that time. So I also assume that his 59'er is also a Hybrid of the 1959 Kodiak as is the La Clair Grayling Spirit.

That said even though my Grayling Spirit is not a true replica it is one shoot'n bow!

Here is another pic of Vintage Works 59 replica. The leather handle is off for pictures. Vintage Works now also is making a 1964 Kodiak replica.

Vintage Works 2009 next to a Bear 1959.
I can say acouple of things about these, they shoot where your looking and they feel good in hand...Scott makes a nice bow for sure....Hink

I'm assuming that the replica bows are OK for use with modern bow string materials FF ? Also a question for the people that have had and shot both and compared them, did the replica out shoot the real thing with the help of modern materials. These are some great looking bow guys keep the pic's coming.

The bows are made for fast flight material. With the modern materials now, the replicas fling an arrow swiftly.

looks like the grip on the Vintage Works is bigger; also the shelf is cut different.

How does that orange stain on the maple belly limbs look up close?

I think the last bow pictured without the grip is the one I have, Scott put the grip on for me. 57# and shoots smooth and fast .

The 59 Kodiak's I have are 7 to 10 # lighter in weight so really can't compare but it puts them right were you look

The grip is more like the 1960 Kodiak which I like better for my size of hand.
The stained belly looks good.....Hink
