Gatekeeper,

Can't say Charlie is trained but we have worked with him some.  My wife loves to train dogs and we have made a few short blood trails and had him follow and get his reward at the end.

We kept some blood from several deer this fall/winter for training purposes.  Hope no one checks our freezer or they will think we are into some wierd stuff with all the little baggies of blood in there!!LOL

Dogs are just fun to have out in the field.  Used to duck hunt creeks mainly because I had a golden that loved to retrieve those ducks!!
Don't fix it till you break it!!

Sawweeeet!!  Thats a great Trophy there.  I remember my first bow turkey fondly. It took 4 years!!
Before I started bow hunting turkeys I'd take my yellow lab Turkey hunting with me.  She'd lay down behind me while I called in the Turks to come to Dekes.  It was so fun having her there.  She would also stop and listen when we were covering ground and I'd stop to give a locator call.  Funny to see her when we got a reply.  She knew which way we were going.  Towards that bird on the next ridge!
Thx. for the Story.

Very nice.  Great job finding the bird..twice.

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Lowell, thanks for the pics! Those are great arrows and congats on a great primitive style hunt! Enjoy the feast! Steve

Congrats on the turkey.  But i'm most interested in the short-legged Jack Russell.  My son has one and we get more grouse, jack rabbits and ground squirrels with him than we ever would without.  He is a fabulous "bow dog."
no clue how to do this
