Cascade Bows ... anyone have one?

I was looking around the web for bows and came across these guys a few months ago. Decent prices and warranty, but figured I would ask if anyone has one?

I have one of his 52" recurves.  Nice bow, great out of a blind.  He rcomends only B50.

Made by the same bowyer as Check-Mate just a different finish and maby different models.I think Check-Mate is a lot less expensive with a great warranty as well.

R.H. While there is a connection between Cascade and Checkmate I have been told that the designs in each line are not identical. Cascades are original Steve Gorr designs. I don't own one but have shot one and I was VERY favourably impressed.

Some of the bows were designed specifically for Cascade Archery and are available only through Cascade Archery--primarily the short td recurves (52" and shorter).  The phenolic riser option is available only through Cascade, except the CM td Crusader longbow (it's available only with a phenolic riser).

Steve will only warranty dacron strings, but Chek-Mate will warranty any string material as long as the string is made properly.  The limbs are made the same on both.

CM also makes the "Tomasine" bows that are sold in France, and made the bows for Woodland Archery.  I think there's at least one other store that sells them under a different name, but I can't think of it right now.

Almost forgot the original question.....I personally don't care for some of the designs (the short bows and the Hill-style longbow--CM's name for it is the Golden Hawk), but I've been shooting their (CM's) bows for over a dozen years, and really like them.  My personal favorite is the Crusader longbow.  Very well made, they stand behind their warranty very well, great shooters.  My only complaint is Marc (the bowyer) just can't make them fast enough.

I have a 58" 53#@27" Cascade Whitetail Hawk (I believe it is the same as the Chek-mate Hunter I) and a 52" 55#@28 Golden Hawk Mag.  I like them both.  I seem to be able to shoot the 52-incher better than a 52" Bear Kodiak Mag--I think because of the grip shape of the Cascade (it has a finger notch of sorts that allows for consistant hand placement.

I have a Golden Hawk Mag that I shoot pretty well. It is a little stiff at my 29 inch draw, but for sure the best 52 inch recurve I have found.

I shoot a 52" night hawk and a 56" whitetail hawk. I like them both. The 52" is great in tight quarters. The 56" is smooth and fast. Steve shoots a 52" almost all of the time. You can see them being shot on Steve's new video.

I had a Golden Hawk Mag. 55@28 52" long. I draw 29". It was smooth and great shooter and sometimes I think I should have kept it. Nice bow.

[Broken Arrows]

Has any one shot the Goshawk? I have always wanted to try that style of bow, and being a falconer that hunts with a Goshawk if the bow shoot like a A Goshawk fly's you can't beat it!!

The "Goshawk" is the one that looks similar to a horse bow, isn't it?  CM calls it the "Longhorn".  Smooth, quick, and quiet.  The only negative I can think of is with the reflexed riser, if you torque it will tell on you more than a bow with a straight or deflexed riser.  I wish it came a little longer than 62"--if it was available in a 64" or 66", I'd shoot one.  I have a left-handed one in the shop--62", 47@28, maple riser and yew limbs.  Dang pretty bow.
