What kind of takedown bow does Fred Asbell use in his Instinctive Shooting video? Beautifully plain. Those limbs look like they must draw at least 70# too.

the old instinctive shooting vid?  he and a partner were building their own bows at that time, i believe they were called bighorn bows.  he now shoots for black widow, and uses several different bows.

Thanks. Yes the old video. Did you like that video? It looks almost like a Quinn Stallion Classic but a little more traditional.

I second that!!! I had Fred make me a Bighorn Custom T/D , my first "Custom" in '84' and sign it for me. 60" 70#@30.
Sure wish my "Old Shoulders" had allowed me to keep on shooting it.  :banghead:

How heavy a bow does Fred shoot? Seems like a pretty robust recurve he had in that film.

he shoots, if i remember correctly, bows in the 50's now.  im sure when the video was made, he was shooting heavier gear.  he has written an article or two, about the effectiveness of 45-55 lb bows, and how anything can be killed with em.

I remember back when he was shooting his Bighorn to use 65# when hunting the Colorado Rockies. With the age and hunting whitetail at shortest distance he does nt need that poundage anymore
