Has anyone shot their bow and measured sound using a decibel meter?
What decibel range would you expect see on a meter?

Apex Predator

I imagine mid to low fifties would be close.
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

I think youll see a wide range depending on the bow the arrow and the tuning.
Wherever you went - here you are.

Good question. I would imagine the frequency profile has alot of variation, as well.

Sipsey, give a little time maybe a week or 2 and I will let you know on my Miller String follow bow. I have a sound mete I use for work. Flint

I actually attempted to test how different string silencers worked by using a decibel meter. Unfortunately only one out of every 5 or 6 shots registered. Not sure if my decibel meter didn't update fast enough or what. The few that did register were right around 60.

60 decibels sounds about right. I'v never tested my recurves or longbow's but have checked compounds befor trying to find what worked right to quiet them down. PSE Mach 6, 80-83 decibels, oneida eagle 83-85, Mathew's much quieter. That was 15 years ago. Ya got me thinking. Maybe this week I'll check my stick bow's.
