Silicon sealant is a great idea. Was going to glue some rubber or velcro until you came up with this. I tried to tighten it up like Hill wears his. Strap is almost under his arm. That worked too. I have to try to tap it with my elbow. That' neat.

I have a great side quiver but it seems to get hung up on everything-- trees, doorframes, etc and if you bend over the arrows spill out. Nice for a target shoot but not practical otherwise. I tried some hip quivers with the rubber grippers, but they don't hold many arrows and also tend to hang up on things. I broke one carbon when it got wrapped up in the bow limb and string and I moved the bow forward. Bummer. The back quiver seems to keep then there and out of the way.
Thanks for all your help and I'll keep you posted on what I try. I notice the Hill qiver attached the top of the strap a few inches down from the top of the quiver.

Alot of guys, just get there quivers and throw it on, hell I did for years.  Read the message on american leathers about quiver fit.  When I went to Mr. Wesley shooting school, he helped me get it right.  We moved the quiver strap over on top a little to get the quiver to fit my back right.  Now there is no set place for it, because we all are different.  Just have to experiment.  Mine will move some, as a back quiver should, but not as bad as it use to like your describing.

Getting better. Tightened it up about 4 inches and doing the bump with the elbow. Watched a H.Hill DVD also. He thumped it for each arrow. Had a nice way of putting them back in too. His quiver is different, however. Top of the strap is on the side of the quiver about 5" down from the top. My strap connects to a little V shaped yoke that goes to the top of the quiver. YOu would expect that would keep the thing on your shoulder but it really doesn't.

Ssamac,  from what you described, you don't have a Hill style quiver,  and using a different type of backquiver might mean adjusting it differently to fit you.....Ben Pearson used a backquiver very successfully, it wasn't a Hill style, yet it fit him and he also used a stabilizing strap.  Proper setup and use of a backquiver depends on what style it is and then adjusting it to fit you.  Watch an old Pearson video to see how he used that style of backquiver.

i've crafted dozens of back quivers - they all need to be adjusted in one way or another to the wearer, either where the strap is attached, or by adding a second 'helper' strap.  also, the quiver length and the full length of the arrows, plays an important role in how the quiver will work and be used.

A back quiver can be challenging for some at first, tightening the strap up can eliminate some of what you describe but I keep mine looser on purpose, I want to be able to shift it around, that is the idea.
The Hill or traditional style quiver offers you the ability to hunt in any kind of terrain, I sometimes slide mine down on my side or low so I can move thru tough country. It lets me carry a lot of arrows along with some items attached to it.
Just a tip for broadheads and to keep them even quieter put a buch of oatmeal or similar wood chip materail in the bottom, drop your arrows arrows in and shake it a little, keeps them sharp and prevents them from bouncing around even more.

i've always found that scott toll's iam backquiver article to be of good interest, with good info.

Oatmeal is a great idea. Maybe M&Ms would be good too. Plain or peanut?

Ssamac

My Quiver is not a Hill style. More like the quiver in the above pic thank you Rob. I like the backquiver, and maybe getting one that really fits would be a nice "gift" to myself at some point.

When you go for an arrow bump the quiver up with the bow at the same time after a few times it will get real easy. I have a Hill quiver it feel real good but sometimes it needs a bump to help it out. I don't know if it is the best but I just think it is real cool to wear.

Its not the size of the animal you hunt that matters. Its how you hunt the animal.
