I got the call from Jim Neaves at Centaur yesterday, and most of the bow is finalized.  I ordered a Chimera, and am going to have snakeskin applied over the carbon back of the limbs......but not sure which way to go.  Jim has prairie rattler on hand, which I do like, but my 1st choice is cottonmouth, then Diamondback.  My question is, would one look better over carbon than the others?  I don't want the pattern of the snakeskin to get "lost" in the background over the dark carbon.  Thanks for any input.

I really like Diamondbacks. Here is a set of Eastern Diamonbacks on a set of Shawnee limbs with carbon backing.

It's hard to beat Diamondback over a black background.  It really pops.

Heres one we did last week:

the dark carbon will make the pattern of the rattlesnakes realy "pop" and stand out...cottonmouth is beautiful, but IMHO tends to not have as much contrast as other skins and might tend to "blend" a little....

On an esoteric level, both Montana and North Dakota are the home of the Prairie Rattler, could bring you "mojo".....

I've used a little black or brown alcohol based dye on the flesh side of skins to darken them before putting them on clear/light colored bow backs.  Brings out the color nicely.

Best camo in the world.  have two and it really doesn't matter what you use, you're going to like it.

I've thought about kingsnake.  They are like rs, but seem to have a more distinct pattern.  Just can't get myself to kill a couple since they are a good critter.

Oh Lord!?!?.............

Could you imagine a really BIG Coral Snake (more like two)??

That would be........WOW!

Hate to throw a wrench in things, but did you ever think about Copperhead skins? They look totally awesome with a black background. IMO

I've looked at Copperhead, but I really like the looks of the cottonmouth I've seen on pics posted on here and on the ***********.  IF the cottonmouth looks good over a black (or charcoal type color), that's my first choice.
