Broken Arrow 1

I am having problems getting my eclipse broadheads scary sharp. I was wondering if there is a step that I am missing.

125 passes on a coarse hone each side, 50 passes on a fine hone each side, 15 passes on a diamond whetstone hone each side, followed by 6 passes on ceramic steel each side.

The broadheads are sharp but I want them to be scary sharp.
Its not the size of the animal you hunt that matters. Its how you hunt the animal.

I bought the Lansky shapener for my Eclipse BH's I was terrible with a stone but with the Lansky I can literally shave my face with any two bladed BH. There's a good video of it in the 'How To' section.

I get my eclipse sharp using the KME Knife sharpner that I got from Ron and I can truely say they are scary sharp.

I second doug77 on the KME. Either the knife or broadhead sharpener works well. Eclipse are a bit harder to sharpen than many because of the convex blades and slightly harder (yet not Ashby-sharp) steel. You have to have a tool to hold the head at a constant angle as you work around the curve, and the KMEs do that great. Dave

I'll third the KME....give Ron a call.  He'll help you get them "scary sharp!"

I ordered the KME diamond sharper kit today myself. I am a poor sharpener of anything I am hopeing the KME will work even for me.

Cody,

You won't have any trouble getting things sharp with the KME. I have one of the diamond knife kits also, and added a few stones too. Ron designed the sharpener so that it is pretty much idiot proof -- not that you fall into that category.    :D  Hope all is well with you. Keep in touch.

brokenarrow, spend more time on the primary medium before moving on. Try to get the head 'finished' on the coarse surface, and then get it 'really finished' on the next steps.
By the time you are done the head will be scary sharp.
All the methods will work: paper wheel, kme, etc you just need to stick with it and practice with whatever you are using.
