I'm with Keith. I paraffin wax my good arrows. Easy on. Works really good.

Blaze orange spray paint....then you won't lose em in the snow. That was my idea for making up some flu flus.

Heck fer wabbit arrows I'd just use Johnson Paste wax and call it good! I'll be out Saturday losing a few for sure!

A lot of options, looks like I have some decisions to make...

Hey Buddy! I used butchers wax and/or or some old car paste wax on those 5/16 woodies ya sent me. If you are gonna use a wrap under the feathers, you'll be good to go!

Watco Danish Oil Finish.....just use a clean cloth to wipe it on, and let it dry!!

Use your best arrows, that way you will be sure not to lose them.   :readit:
I was a total newbie at this last year, and the only arrow I lost was the one I gave Shawn after a bunny took it under a neighbor's shed. And I KNOW that you are a better shot than I am!

Hmm. Come to think of it, I didn't take ANY of my nice ash arrows home with me. Never mind!

You know Jamie, you just reminded me of something. Last Saturday I went to Lemme's Archery for some help with my new hickory arrows. It was there the owner, Mario, showed me some of his latest hunting shafts. Cedar, sealed with that spray stuff they apply to feathers and Whisker Biscuit rests to keep 'em dry. Says it does the trick. Just something to think over...

No snow Chris? I have a whole can. I just tried three shafts with regular sealing wax, warmed on the wood stove. Im not too picky, because I started these last year in prep for JLMBH. Then with my neck/back issues...well they should be good enough for bunnies.LOL.
I will let everyone know, and will try to post pics if they come out ok.

Yeah, No Snow. I'd figured I'd let you know, seeing as I remembered that you used the stuff...

we have a cheap, soft floor polish here called Cobra wax. I think it is paraffin based  but it is the easiest thing to apply with a cloth, leave standing for ten minutes and buff, I do it after gluing or using tape for feathers or else they don't stick. Sure is waterproof and slick out of targets. Nice for refinishing old arrows too.
You have lots of options now!

If you want to add color to your arrows, you can use food coloring. I use a lint free rag wipe the shaft with your choice of color it dries real quick then a couple coats of wipe on ploy and you're good to go.

I checked on the three I did last night..they look good, but feel a bit rough. I have an idea....

A lot of great ideas here, dont know if I will ever dip em again.   :biglaugh:

OK just got done fletching the first waxed shaft. Wraps have no adhesion problems at all, and I am really surprised how they came out. I think they would hold up to WAY more than a few shots! Think we might be on to something here....

sand them with 4/0 steel wool and a HEAVY coat of wipe on Poly, and they will be fine. I've found arows a couple weeks after a heavy rain that were ready to shoot.
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

These "throw away" arrows end up being the ones you never lose......

ishiwannabe

I think you may be right Roger.
I am almost done fletching the last of the waxed three....every time I check the woodstove, I fletch another one...just to make sure I give the glue enough time to set...they are looking good.
