I "inherited" some rabbit fur string silencers. They are just a strip of the pelt about 6" long and 1/4 inch thick. They seem rather large on the string (they are held in place by putting the ends between the strands and wrapping the fur around the string) and also, if you tune the string, the string will twist more above the silencer (nearer to the ends) then below the silencer. I guess these work but what's the right way to install, how big should they be, etc.

I usually use 2 to 3 inches and once it is rolled up in the string it is about 1 to 11/2" down the string. You are installing correctly.

thanks. seemed like the 6" was too much fur for my boy's little bow.
