We got my brother a 45# Grizzly for Christmas, it's a really nice bow from the 70's and it's in great shape.
I just made a string for it today and the brace height is too low. The bow is marked at 58", I measured it and it was 59" but I just made one with the 58" peg on my string board.
I did some twisting and I can only get it to just under a 7" brace height. I don't think that I will be able to twist it to my desired brace height of around 7 1/2".
How far would you guys twist your strings? Is there a limit?
I think I would only twist it until it doubles on itself. If it's not right then, then I'll have to make a new string.

Any advice?  :help:

needs a 54- 55" string.  If it wants to kink up without pressure, its over twisted

The bow is not 59".  You measure it from nock to nock across the belly, not tip to tip.  Make a string 55" long and then you can twist it to where you need it easily.

If you made a flemish twist string, unravel it and redo one of the loops to get the length you need, about 55" as others have already noted.
