I switched out the limbs on my old Silvertip last night and dropped down in poundage by 4 lbs. Everything else stayed the same. Same brace height, same string, same arrows, same length limbs. The only thing I can see that's different is that the 56# limbs have horn tips and are FF compatible. The 52# limbs have black walnut tips and are not FF compatible. There is an obvious change in the noise level between these 2 setups. It's not "loud"  mind you, Most would think I was being anal about it, but there is an obvious difference between the two. Anybody have an idea why?

Play with brace height, in about 1mm increments.

The lighter limbs aren't stretching the string as taught, thus the amplitude of the string vibration will be less acute, i.e., lower, less high pitched sounding by comparison.

If you are shooting the same arrows your gpi went up

I'd say most likely the lighter bow is quieter all else being equal

Since ya changed 4#s one is probably better tuned than the other to the same arrows even if it's hard to tell

The extra ummmph genrally comes with extra noise beit from a high performace bow or one shooting lighter grains per pound....string material???
Shoot straight and have FUN!!
