I'm new to the world of carbon and tapered shafts - so don't laugh too hard.

1. Does it matter which end of a carbon shaft is cut?

2. For tapered shafts, how to ensure that the cut is square? (or is the taper angle so slight as to not matter much?)

Thanks,
Dave

Most tapered carbons are not tapered the entire length only the nock end has a taper about 8-10" long. But like said you only cut from the point end.How do you plan on cutting them? My arrow saw has a tapered hole,so I put the nock end in the tapered hole and bring the saw into the shaft and rotate the shaft as I cut it.This is how more expensive saws work and that gives you a square cut on shafts.Or if you cut a different method you can get a G5 arrow squaring tool.Carbons arrows you should use a high speed saw to cut them whether you use an arrow saw or even a dremel tool or ?

Thanks.

Well, I figured I'd use a benchtop cutoff saw, something like this from HarborFreight

If the shaft taper isn't too much, maybe I'll be ok.
