Anyone heard of these? I was driving around today in Paris, IL. and saw a sign for "Cherokee Recurves & Longbows" the guy has a little shop out back of his house and makes custom bows. He was closed by the time I saw it but I'm going to pop in tomorrow and say hi.

Let us know how it turns out...and take some pictures of his bows, too.

I know of a guy by the name of Bob Calvert (sp?) that lives in Paris. I know he has built some bows in the past to hunt with but I didn't know he had started a business?

Mike, are you doing some scouting around Paris or are you working there?

I'm working here for about 2-3 weeks. I got an invite to hunt some private land today from one of the local techs am working with. He said I had to earn my buck though and I didn't know what he meant,he said:
"You have to shoot a doe first before you can shoot a buck"
My reply was "I'm not much of a horn hunter I just want some deer meat"
Then he told me he has some monster bucks on his place and I should shoot one.

Then I looked up what it costs for an out of state hunter to shoot a buck and doe here...$400! plus $55 license. I can't afford that right now.

So he said I can shoot all the does I want.
From what I read in the regs I can buy does tags at $15.50 a pop with no limit.

You will be seeing me posting at least one "first blood" with my new Blacktail sometime next week.

I'm pretty excited about the whole thing right now...Plus he said he has lots of yotes and please shoot them...I use to live to hunt yotes.

MikeW keep us posted. I hunt just a little west of Paris, since your not going to be able to hunt the horns, might think about carrying a camera. Are you in town for the turn around?

I got a freind that has one of the cherokee longbows from paris. I have shot it a couple times there not bad at all.
