100+ gold tip arrow: help! what lenght and what broadhead weight up front to spine out arrows for 90# bow,any help would be appreciated

Whump

Whump Sez: What kind of bow---how much center shot is it and what is your draw length? If you are shooting a recurve that is cut to or past center you will have more leeway on length. Longbow not cut to center---length will be very critical. You will need to decide what weight broadhead you are going to shoot and work it from there by starting out shooting a full length shaft with field points of the same weight and cut them down about 1/2" at a time for a recurve and 1/4" at a time for a long bow not cut to center. You are starting a tuning adventure for your particular type and style of shooting so don't rely on a length and point weight that someone else is shooting and try to match that to your bow and draw length.    :readit:   Hunt Safe.

I believe that carbon arrows need to be tuned to trad bows and there are alot of variables. The same arrow for a 90# recurve may not work for a 90# longbow. You have a starting static spine of the 100+ Gold Tip but you need to adjust the dynamic spine by shooting it and trimming or adding weight up front. There is not most likely alot of guys here shooting 90# bows,I know there are some that shoot that much weight. It's hard to say cut to this length and use a 200 gr. broadhead for your setup.I shoot upto my 83# DQ Bamboo longhunter,I shoot Blackhawk Carbonwood VMAXX 5000 with 100 gr.insert and 175 gr. point out of it.I haven't shot 100+ GT's,wish I could be more helpful with those.

i shot 100+ gold tips 175 gr heads with 100 gr brass inserts and fish tank tubing in the shaft for added weight out of my 90# silver tip i have a 31" draw
