Anyone Shooting the Reflex Nomad Recurve?

Anybody in the TG shooting the Reflex Nomad Recurve?  I just bought a new one off ****.  I needed a recurve to take on my trip to IL the end of this month and I've been looking for a Gamemaster or Dorado.  

It turns out the Nomad is very similar to the Dorado.  That being said, I think the Gamemaster has a 21" riser and the Dorado a 19" riser as does the Nomad.  What I like about the Nomad is the grip does not have metal exposed like the Gamemaster I did.  I really liked shooting the Gamemaster I, except for the exposed metal.

If not the Nomad, how about the Hoyt Dorado?

Shot and set up several of those and as long as you pad the riser and limb tips, and set the brace height out a little higher, they shoot very well and are quiet.  I like them, but they are not as smooth as my BW's!  Mark

Maybe not with the standard wood/carbon limbs, but I had an original Gamemaster that I put a set of Hoyt foam/carbon limbs on that were as smooth as, and in most cases smoother, any bow I've ever drawn, including several BWs.  It's in the design and construction of the limbs.  Right now I have a Dale Dye recurve out for weight reduction and reinforcement of the tips to handle FF strings.  It is the smoothest bow I've ever drawn.

Anyone know what the actual string length is for a string for the Nomad or Dorado?

How about this Dorado Bill? I only ordered the riser. Believe it's a 60" bow with recurve limbs, 64" set up like this.

Will New Hoyt or Reflex bows take ILF limbs?

I haven't seen how to do it, yet, but it is my understanding that there is an adapter available for the Hoyt/Reflex bows that will permit use of the ILF limbs.  TT Archery has them and they will install them on a set of limbs for you if you buy a set of ILF limbs from them.

Yes you can adapt the riser to allow ILF limbs on both of those risers.  Bill I hope you got my answers to your string question on the other posts and PM's.  Good luck,  I enjoy shooting mine, just have to be careful that my BW's don't get too jealous on me!!  Mark

I have both the Dorado and the Nomad riser. They are the same , identical except for the ID tag inlet into the riser.
I have several sets of ILF limbs that I use on both risers. Bought the original couple of sets of adapting hardware from TradTech. I like to putter , so eventually decided I would cut off dovetail piece of ILF fitting leaving just a little bit of flair to seat against the limb and drill out the center to accommodate the nub on the riser. The first eventually worked a little bit loose so I then spread a little epoxy in the limb and on the metal piece and reseated them. Have not had any problems since then and have been able to remove from limb with no problem.

My primary limbs are carbon foam mediums for a 62" bow, 44# rated gives me 56# at 29" and 540 gr arrow 195ish fps. I also have a set of the TradTech ILF long bow limbs, they are as fast but a little stiffer, 60 plus #s.I just made a 14 strand ff string at 57 3/4" giving me 8 3/8" brace height. If your bow is 60" just subtract the 2" difference.

I have one son shooting a Dorado and another shooting a Gamemaster, despite the fact the GM is two inches longer, pound for pound it shoots faster than the Dorado. I had read somewhere that this is the case with the 23 and 25" ILF risers, the 25" being the faster of the two.Something to experiment with this winter.

I have shot compounds with fingers for 30 plus years and am a bit of perfectionist when it comes to tuning my equipment. I shot off the shelf intially with the trad gear, then to a flipper with solid side pressure(I will hunt in the rain and prefer to be able to shoot vanes).I got to thinking of my previous set-ups and switched to a T-300 rest and Berger. BINGO, groups shrank right down and fine tuning is possible.
