In my opinion, the traditional archery community comprises of many of the finest people in the whole world. We seem to really want to genuinely help each other, it's that simple. You see it all the time here at Tradgang and as many of you know, the sponsors of this site exemplify every aspect of being good, kind people. Even though I am preaching to the choir, I must mention my arrow making friend and shooting Guru Milt Beens, owner of Wildcat Canyon Traditional Archery. On Saturday, I went outside to shoot in preparation for elk season and no matter what I was trying to fix, I could not get these footed shafts to fly straight out of my BW PL. Of course I thought it must be something I am doing, plucking the string, nock set to high, etc. I was so frustrated that I had to immediately go to town and see Milt, and despite my son's protests, I needed to spend some time with him alone. As soon as I arrived at his shop, he could sense my frustration and temperment. With only two weeks to go until the start of the hunt, a bad shooting batch of arrows is not a good thing! Milt took me outside in front of his shop and he had me bare shaft some arrows to see what the problem might be. As it turned out, the footed shafts were spined way to heavy for my bow poundage. Which is really strange because they seemed to fly pretty well most of the year. Confusing to say the least. Milt said he would make me up a batch of heavy cedars and I left his shop feeling pretty confident. That evening I get a call from Milt and despite his busiest time of the year in regards to his arrow making and his pottery, he had finished my arrows! I was stunned. All he said was, "Thomas, I know how you can get, and I understand how important it is for you to have these arrows." I picked the arrows up today and I shot them this evening and I could not be more pleased. Other than my father, Milt has been the most instrumental in my development as a traditional archer. I cannot say enough about the man, my Guru came through once again! T

Milt is one of the best in my opinion. I have gotten several batches of arrows from him and have always Beens pleased. (How's that pun!)
Very kind to speak to and as accomidating as he can possible. Way to go Milt!!

T,
you're right, Milt is a true artist and a nice guy. I shot his course last year  the first day I arrived. Will do the same on Sept. 14th I'll be hunting 3 and 1/2 days ( I know. it's short but is all I have ) , the 14-17th on the Missionary Ridge. Although I always make my own, I want to come back to NY with some of his arrows for my deer season up here for good "karma"
goo luck this season

milt is a great guy and really cares about his customers. he is very knowledgeable and is willing to share that knowledge with anyone wanting to learn. he also has the most awsome 3-d range behind the shop.
