First try at replacing a leather grip "PICS"

After reading the "how-to's" from other TG members, I decided to give this a go. The grip and shelf were pretty worn on one of my Wesleys and needed to be replaced. There's a Tandy leather store not too far from work, so I stopped by and found a fairly nice remnant to work with, and some barge cement - $15 total. this is the old grip and plate:
 

and here is the finished product:

 
 
 

What do you guys think? I'm not sure I really like the color, although it does match the Yew back very well. I might try it again with another piece later but we'll see. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post a how-to article - they're a big help!   :thumbsup:

I´m not sure about the colour either, dark brown or black would be my choices.
Others than that it´s nicely done.
I quite like the kind with a strip of leather going vertical, where I saw the leather together at the back, because I have difficulties getting the leather together without a gap.
