Hello,

I'm trying (but failing) to get my woodsman glue-on broadheads sharp. I tried using a file and then a stone, and just a stone. What is the best way?
Thanks,
Jim Anderson

frassettor

I believe they have a segment in the " how to " section. I think Charlie Lamb does it...Or mabey Terry

If you have the older ones, Charlies how to was the best.  Think frassettor is right, check out the "how to" section.

I just picked up a pack the other day from 3Rivers with the new grind on them.  Those are slick!!!  Sharpened them with a simple diamond stick, nothing else.  Hair poppin' sharp too.

Charlie Lamb's way is the way to get it done, works great. My thing is I cannpt get them to stop whistling! or hissing.

I read awhile back about using a belt sander and I gave it a shot. I used a worn 400grit belt and Man it makes short work of getting the initial grind even and then I used stones to get them SHARP!!!

This is how I sharpen my Woodsmans.

They are the easiest heads to sharpen with just a file. Shaving sharp in a bout 5 minutes.
Start with 8 strokes per side, good pressure. Then 7 ,6,5 etc. Pressure liter ,getting only the wieght of the file by the time you are doing 2 around. Finish with 1's around 3 times (just the weight of the file). Your done. The key is the ever decreasing pressure and go slow as to keep the file flat on 2 edges , no rocking.

I use Mr. Lambs method posted above. The first sharpening of a new head seems laborous. After that initial sharpening it is easy to get that edge right back to dangerous!

Good idea Lewis, will give my next batch a shot for sure.
