Sharp Grizzlies/sandpaper

What you think can grizzly 160s be sharpened w/sandpaper method? anyone done it. I( reshaped the edge with a file already (lowered the angle). Just wanting to finish it/sharpen/polish.

these grizzlies are the hardest b/hs to get finished,  i have tried file, stone,  and drimel.  my best way so far is with file and stone it just takes forever to get them finished.  but once you do they seem to be pretty easy to maintain.   i have heard people talk that kme sharpener, and they say it is great,i havent tried it yet but im sure i will.

I've used the KME and it is still a tough road.  They will get sharp doing this, but be prepared for a long job.

I made a jig (search for SOS thread) and used a disc sander with regular sandpaper 180 grit to 120 grit( to get the angle then used a file to get them shaven sharp. A 190gr grizzly is now 170-175gr.

I have had batches of Grizzlies that seamed harder than my files and I would remove more material from the wet stone than from the blade!

I just happened to marry into a family of bladesmiths so I let one of my relatives do their magic on the blades for me.

All I can tell you is that once they are ground to a hair edge, Grizzlies can be made razor sharp with just a few strokes on a diamond hone.

I am here trying to file one now, yeah it seems that the blade is harder than my file. I am gonna go with some stones after this but I thought maybe sandpaper could polisj them up after this.

But that metal is tough stuff, almost like hand to hand combat to file em.

I just finished my first one using the KME sharpner on sandpaper last night.  It's pretty darn good, and with a little practice and finishing up on a diamond stone I think this is going to be the ticket!  Still a lot of work initially, but I think once I get the edge where I want it they will be a piece of cake to keep up.
