i have made a couple of hickory board bows and now have a stave i want to make a bow from. what is a good limb width for a hickory self bow. also what about lenth. i draw about 28.5" and like a bow around 50#.

           thanks b-dog

**DONOTDELETE**

68" n2n 1.5-1.75" wide. Just make it like your other board bows.

b-dog, 66" to 68" and at least 1 1/2" wide(1 3/4" is better) out 8 or so inches and a straight taper to 3/8" tips. Be sure your hickory is very dry...that might be difficult in Prosperity. 6% moisture content is perfect and at 9% to 11% it will feel sluggish.    Pat

Yeah, the dimensions for a board bow and a self bow will be similar.
