or 70 meters. That's the distance the olympic archers are shooting. They are shooting fancy recurves but they're still stick bows. That's awsome that they can shoot that far and be that accurate   :notworthy:    :notworthy:  kudos to our olympians. Go USA   :clapper:    :clapper:

I remember Tim Strickland, olympic coach saying that you could get a feeling for the sight picture of an olympic archer by holding a map pin out at arms length.  That's what the bullseye looks like to an olympic archer at 70 meters.

Don't know about all that but isn't Jennifer Nichols very pretty? That gal could definatley be a model as well as a great olympic shooter.

I wonder if they would let me shoot twice just so I could get closer to see the target  :knothead:
Treat others as you would want to be treated.

I think I'd need to shoot off of the kid's tee's at that range!

Sequences of distances fixed for the men's archery competition are – 90 meter (300 feet), 70 meter (230 feet), 50 meter (165 feet) and 30 meter (100 feet). The sequence of distances for the women's competition is 70 meter (230 feet), 60 meter (around 180 feet), 50 meter (165 feet) and 30 meter (around 90 feet).

Try shooting 90 meters with 35 to 40 lbs. sometime. It can be a eye opening experience.
No matter what type of bow is shot, we're all archers.

90 meters, that would be a par 3 for me.

70 yards is commonly know as a Fetrow in our hunting camps.... I shot an Olympic style competition here in AZ at the Grand Canyon State Games with my hunting Longbow..... That was a humbling experience but real fun..... Terry

In the qualifier for the 1980 Olympics Darrel Pace beat me by one point so I failed to qualify. I went over to the dark side after that and started shooting with training wheels. I never tried for the aOlympics again. Back then the distances were 70, 80 and 90 meters.

Was that at Colorado Springs?  I competed there at the end of 1982 or the beginning of 1983.  I didn't make the team either.  I stayed with FITA for a couple years after that, but was more interested in hunting and stopped competing.  My hunting style and my FITA style were at odds with each other and FITA lost.
