I have a 54" Classic Hunter, and was wondering what to use for string silencers? And how far from the limb tips should they be installed?

Thanks for the advice.

I normally use hushpuppies or Musk Ox(3rivers archery) and place them anywhere from 10" to 14" down the string from the limb tip depending on the bow.

Ron recommends cat whiskers, but I can't make them last very long. I have found that with a bow quiver (I have the Shrew strap-on) mounted up tight as possible on either side of the handle, my 54" CH, braced to 7-1/4", is absolutely totally quiet and string silencers are unnecessary. Dave

I used muskrat and the "guitar twang" went right away.  I am however a Bow Hush & Hush Puppy fan!!!!!

I have used Catwhiskers, Muskrat, and Beaver all with good results on mine and my wifes.

anything out there.. I have used cat whiskers, old boot laces, wool & beaver... It's all Good.

I use a half a hushpuppy on all my Shrews, trimmed real tight.  It is more for looks than anything else, they don't really need string silencers.
