Hey everyone, i'm going to try and tune up some woodies but have never done it before. I have heard several different things about it, most of them contrary to the other. I have tuned carbons and do very well, but wood just seems like a different animal. Any advice would be very much appriciated, also positive and negative feeling welcome. Thanks...
spec's: 45#@29 recurve cut to 1/16" past center.

55-60# cedars should work pretty well.  Given that it's cut past center, you can overspine by a lot.

Paul:
The nice thing about wood is you can get just about any spine you need or desire. Really no need to tune the arrow just make them the correct spine to start with. With your setup I would suggest a spine of 65/69 cut to 30"BOP. Once you go past center you need a stiffer spine, however your usable spine range gets wider, so your choice of spines gets broader. About the only other thing you will need to do is adjust the nock point higher because of the difference in diameter between wood and carbon.
So have fun and enjoy your wood arrow experience.

Bob,

So i dont need to tune a wood arrow as far as dealing with issues of nock left or right? Sorry if this is a lame question...

Paul:
If the correct spine is selected to start with that is correct. The difference between the two shaft materials is, carbons only come in 3-4 different spines, so you need to adjust length and point weight to tune the shaft to the bow. With woods if you have enough shafts to choose from your could get them in one pound increments, so knowing the length you will need and bow weight, plus how the shelf is cut you just select the proper shaft.
