question about cattail quiver.

After Seeing osagetree's buildalong in which he includes a cattail quiver i have to build one, but i was just wondering how long to dry the cattails?

If I remember right your gonna wanna harvest them about now and by late winter or next spring the should be ready.

hmm you might b right but Im not sure because he cut them in summer and made it before that hunting season.. Idk tho

Osagetree

Lay them out in the sun on a screen or something. They will be green in color but dry in a week or so. If you leave them longer they will turn a brown in color. Be sure and soak them in water until plyable again before twisting, weaving or working the reeds. If you can wait until the end of August the reeds will be wider and longer which is a good thing. If you're like me you won't wait....

Glad to see someone is still being inspired by my homegrown equipment thread. Please post some pics when you're done! I still use the quiver I made from time to time and it is always on disply in my den. Sure was fun to do!
